Hey oppo,

What's up? So I'm starting the process in finding a (new) car to buy. But I'm getting pretty disappointed in my finds. Can someone help/suggest things?

Here are my requirements:

Must have a real key.

Manual Transmission

Under 25k

Preferably without an Lcd or touchscreen on the center console

This is harder than it seems hahaha.

Why does it need a real key?

your probably going to be looking at something used.

only cars that I can think of like this are toybaru twins, cheap (and I mean cheap) hatchs and some muscle cars.

does the golf TDI get away with it? thats proabbly what i'd buy

I love my Mazda 3 but it doesn't have a real key and any trim above the base trim has an LCD. It does come in a 6 speed and mine cost $20k.

It could just be the odd satisfaction of turning the key, feeling the starter catch, and hearing/feeling the engine coming to life, instead of just holding a button.

Base FR-S if you want new. Otherwise, e46 M3, e39 M5, e36 M3, Z4M Coupe, Boxster, Cayman, GTI, 350z (370z if you really look around hard).

Have you considered ignoring all your criteria and getting a Prius?

But seriously, maybe a 500 Abarth? It may have a push button, but it does everything else.

These days the turn of the key is just the same as pressing a button. In my car at least you don't even need to hold it turned to start, just twist to start and let go, the car does the rest.

I wish I had a push button so I didn't have to take my keys out of my pocket. The satisfaction of turning a key is gone, now it feels like an inconvenience.

Have you driven a newer car? If others are like mine, the emotion from the key is gone. The whole process of starting no longer depends on the key, it's just like hitting a button. I don't even hold it on start, just twist it to hit start and let go. It's not special anymore, not any more special than hitting a button and feeling the car rock to life

Oh, by the way, a Chevy Sonic meets all your criteria if you stick to the absolute base model, but you get no turbo. You can go all the way up to the RS and still get a key, but you get a touchscreen. However the touchscreen is very simple and extremely responsive.

The FRS lacks a touchscreen but it might have a button. I don't know

It was just my thought to why he wanted an actual key.
